How to Review Granite Slab Photos Before Ordering
A disciplined ten-minute review of bundle photography prevents most disputes. What to look for and what to ask.
For any granite with visible movement, current slab photography is the contract between what you imagined and what arrives. Reviewing it well is a skill — and a checklist.
Ask for the right photos
Request photos of the specific bundle on offer, not library images: full-slab shots of every slab (or the first and last of a sequenced bundle), taken square-on in even light, with a scale reference. For polished material, ask for at least one angled shot that shows the polish reflecting light — it reveals surface defects a straight-on photo hides.
What to check
Shade consistency across the bundle; the position of dramatic veins relative to your cut layout; filled areas, fissures or resin lines; edge condition; and the slab dimensions actually usable after trimming. If a kitchen needs three slabs, confirm they are sequential from the block — pattern drift between distant slabs is the most common seam complaint.
Confirm in writing
Approve slabs by bundle and slab numbers, and keep the approved images with the order file. A supplier who welcomes this discipline is telling you something good about how the rest of the order will go.
